  • January 1 – Florida increases its minimum wage from $7.79 per hour to $7.93 per hour.
  • January 6 – The Florida State Seminoles defeat the Auburn Tigers at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
  • January 27 – U.S. Representative Trey Radel resigns about two months after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine.

  • March 11 – A special election is held in Florida's 13th Congressional District to fill the seat of late Representative Bill Young. Republican David Jolly defeats Democrat Alex Sink by a margin of 48.4%-46.6%.
  • March 13 – Former Governor of Florida Reubin Askew dies in Tallahassee at age 85.

  • April 18 – SpaceX CRS-3, an uncrewed Dragon cargo spacecraft, launches from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station with a cargo of experiments and equipment for the International Space Station.

  • May 6 – Following a period of intense thunderstorms, tornadoes, and flooding in the Florida Panhandle, a disaster declaration is issued for Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington counties.

  • June 15 – The San Antonio Spurs defeat the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA finals, with a record of 4–1.
  • June 24 – A special election is held in Florida's 19th congressional district to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Representative Trey Radel. Republican Curt Clawson is elected over Democrat April Freeman by a margin of 67.0%-29.3%.

  • August 21 – Florida's ban of same-sex marriage is ruled unconstitutional by a a federal district court judge. However, the judge immediately stays the ruling, pending an appeal by the state circuit court.
